Options Explained
This section explains each option in more detail so you know exactly what you’re choosing: how the plate attaches to the holder, how the holder mounts to your car, and what you will receive in your order.
How the plate will attach to the holder
This describes how your number plate attaches to the Xignature Plate Holder, not how the holder mounts to the car.
Permanent Screws (Standard)
- Your number plate is fixed to the holder using screws through the plate
- Simple, secure and ideal for normal daily road use
- Pop-rivets can be used at your own risk, but are not recommended because they may crack acrylic plates
EZ-Release Magnets (Pro)
- The holder has built-in magnetic receivers
- Special receiver screws attach to your number plate, which then clicks magnetically into place
- Tool-free removal and refitting of the plate
- Ideal for show cars, photoshoots, track days or display setups
⚠️ Important:
EZ-Release magnetic setups are intended for display, show or off-road use. They are not recommended as a primary road-legal mounting solution, and are also not advised for very heavy or bulky plates or on strongly curved bumpers where magnet contact can be reduced.
How the holder will attach to the car
This describes how the Xignature Plate Holder itself mounts to your car’s bumper or plate area.
Strong Adhesive Only
- Uses high-bond automotive adhesive on the back of the holder
- Gives the cleanest look with no visible screws through the holder
- Ideal for most modern cars where a smooth, clean install is preferred
- Requires a properly cleaned and degreased surface for best adhesion
Strong Adhesive + 2 Screw Slots (incl. Screws)
- Same high-bond adhesive as above, plus
- Two elongated screw slots in the centre area of the holder
- Includes screws so you can secure the holder through the plate area on cars that use 2 screws
- Offers both mechanical fixing and adhesive support for extra peace of mind
⚠️ Important:
The 2 screw slots are designed for common two-screw layouts through the plate area. They may not line up with every factory bracket or 4-screw pattern. If your car has a very unusual mounting system, you may need to rely on Strong Adhesive Only or create custom mounting to suit your setup.

- Best overall value compared to buying items separately
⚠️ Note:
All plate holders are physically the same model for a given product. When you select the Full Set, you receive two of the same version you configured in the options above, plus the matching disc holder.

Change Plate Holder Colour
This refers to the overall look and texture of the plate holder, separate from the logo text (which is defined under "Version").
Default finish:
- Two-tone combination
- Gloss black outer frame
- Matte black inlay (slightly graphite in appearance)
- Matte black badge area (also slightly graphite in appearance)
- Balanced OEM+ appearance with subtle contrast
To request a different finish:
Add the Change Plate Holder Body Colour Upgrade to your cart along with your plate holder, and select your desired finish on the upgrade page.
⚠️ Important:
- Two-tone is the default finish unless upgraded
- Modifications cannot be made after the order is placed
Change Plate Holder Size
This refers to the size of your actual license plate that fits inside the holder.
Standard (Default)
- 520mm × 113mm
- This is the standard size for most vehicles
- Your order will default to this size unless requested otherwise
To request a different size:
Add the Change Plate Holder Size Upgrade to your cart along with your plate holder, and select your desired size on the upgrade page.
⚠️ Important:
- Long plate size will be shipped if no upgrade is provided
- We do not modify plate holders after checkout
- We do not check vehicle models before production, it is the customer’s responsibility to specify if a different size is needed.
Installation & Fitment
Details on how your plate holder fits your car and how to install both the holder and the plate.
Holder Installation Info
All plate holders come pre-fitted with strong, automotive-grade double-sided adhesive strips. This is the default mounting method and provides a secure, clean fit with no drilling required.
Simply peel and press, the adhesive bonds firmly to clean, flat surfaces and is suitable for daily use on all vehicles.
Note: Mounting holes are available as a upgrade. If required, please follow the instructions in the Available Options section above, before checkout.
Plate Installation Info
Follow the instructions provided with your order for proper plate-to-holder installation.
- Standard Version: Use the provided screws to attach your number plate to the holder before mounting the holder to your vehicle.
- Pro & Pro-X Versions: You may mount the plate to the holder using the included screws, or use the EZ-Release option.
- EZ-Release: Fit the magnetic screws directly to your number plate only, the plate will then click securely into place on the holder via built-in magnets.
All Pro and Pro-X holders come with both mounting options included. Choose the method that best suits your application.

These notes include important details to review before placing your order.
Curved Bumpers
Our plate holders are designed for flat or slightly curved bumpers. If your bumper has a strong curve, the holder may not sit flush and installation may not be possible without modification.
No Refunds: Refunds are not accepted if a holder is installed and comes loose due to excessive bumper curvature.
Model Variations: Even if a holder is branded with a specific car model, it remains your responsibility to check the bumper curve before ordering. We do not inspect every car and model for fitment.
Finisher Fitment: If you have a curved bumper, check with your local dealer if they offer a finisher for your car that evens out the curve.
Future Options: We are developing curved versions. If you’d like to be notified when they are released, please email us.

Perspex Plates
Our plate holders are designed to work with both aluminium and perspex number plates. However, we highly recommend using aluminium plates:
Compliance: Aluminium is the current SABS-approved national standard (SANS 1116) across all provinces. While some suppliers still sell perspex plates, they are being phased out and are no longer considered compliant for new fitments.
Pro Holder Performance: Our Pro holders with magnetic plate-to-holder fitment work best with aluminium. Overly heavy perspex plates may, in certain cases, come loose.

Will Xignature Plate Holders fit my car and plates?
Yes. Our standard fit is the South African Long plate size of 520 x 113 mm, which is used on most modern cars.
If your plates are a different size, you must purchase a plate holder size upgrade so we can resize your holder to the correct plate size. If you are unsure which size you have, you are welcome to send us a photo and measurements and we will guide you.
How do they mount, and can I use screws instead of only tape?
You have two mounting options:
- Standard option: High strength automotive tape on a clean, flat surface for a clean install without drilling into the bumper.
- Screw slot option: You can add screw slots on the product page. We will cut neat slots into the holder so you can use screws with your existing mounting points, together with tape if needed.
If your car already has factory screw holes, or you prefer a mechanical fixing, choose the screw slot option when you order. Our standard screw slots are centred vertically on the plate and give you a horizontal adjustment range from 100 mm to 180 mm between mounting points, which matches the most common hole spacing on modern cars.
If your car uses top-mounted holes, more than two holes, or a different spacing to the centre pattern, please leave us a note at checkout with your exact measurements or reach out via email before ordering so we can advise the best option.
What are the lead times and why do you mention production slots?
Xignature Plate Holders are made on request as part of an exclusive finishing service for your car.
Current lead times are shown on each product page and are usually very quick. Most standard orders move from cutting to assembly to dispatch within a few working days.
To protect quality and keep service personal, we sometimes limit how many sets we produce at once and open a short waiting list when we reach that limit. If a waiting list is active, the expected timing will be clearly displayed before you place your order.
I have questions before ordering, what should I do?
We are happy to help. To avoid delays or misunderstandings, please follow this process:
- Start by reading the full product page carefully, including the size, fitment and option details.
- Visit our FAQs page. Most common questions are answered there.
- If you still need help, submit a message via our Contact Us form with your car model, plate size and any relevant photos.
A team member will review your request and get back to you via email.
This process ensures your request reaches the right person on our team and helps us answer you faster and more accurately, without pulling time away from active orders in production.
How does your 14-day return policy work?
All refunds and exchanges must be requested via our Contact Us page within 14 days of delivery (based on the courier’s confirmed delivery date). After 14 days, returns or exchanges can no longer be accepted.
If the issue was our mistake
(incorrect item, manufacturing defect, or something not as described):
- We will make it right
- Replacement or refund will be arranged
- We cover the replacement shipping costs
If the issue was on your side
(e.g. wrong version or size selected, no cart note where requested, change of mind):
- You cover the return and resend shipping costs
- A 25% handling and repacking fee applies
- Items must be unused, unfitted, and in their original condition and packaging
Custom or personalised items may be excluded from change-of-mind returns unless there is a manufacturing defect.

Can I order offline or by phone?
No. Xignature is an online retailer and all orders are placed through our website.
Because each holder is built to your specific options (plate size, colour, badge choice, screw slots, etc.), the online checkout ensures that:
- Your selections are captured accurately
- Payment is processed securely
- Your order flows straight into our production system
- You receive automatic order and tracking updates
We also handle support via email and our online contact form. This gives us a clear written record of your details, lets us attach photos and fitment notes, and allows the workshop team to stay focused while we respond properly instead of missing calls.
This streamlined approach ensures we can service our current customers as efficiently as possible, and that our resources are not depleted by manually processing phone orders and ad-hoc enquiries.
We do work directly with OEM and wholesale partners, where dedicated contacts and processes are set up, but even then orders are still processed through our digital system for accuracy and tracking.
